Responsibility
With the current barrage of political ads that we're being hit with, it's easy to start thinking that "government" is the answer to all of life's problems. It's not. And before I go any further, let me just admit... THIS IS MY SOAP BOX! Why is it that we have to find someone to blame whenever life falls short of the expectations we've placed on it? Ding-Ding-Ding... I've got an answer! It's 'cause we run like crazy from personal responsibility.
-You constantly struggle with keeping a job? Blame your boss. Don't blame your attitude, work ethic or inability to get along w/ people.
-Your finances are a nightmare? Blame the economy. Don't blame yourself for the years of dumb financial decisions or the fact you always spend more than you make.
-Your kids are failing in school? Please, blame the teacher.
-Your life seems to constantly go down a dead end path? Blame the government. Don't blame yourself for hanging out with whiners, complainers & pessimistic people and then becoming just like them.
-You're not growing spiritually? I've got an idea... blame your church, your pastor or even the kid's program.
No, I'm not writing this blog in response to an email or a specific incident. I'm simply pointing out the cultural trend we all get caught up in of avoiding personal responsibility. Let's work at overcoming this in our own life. It'll inspire others to do the same.
By the way, if you disagree w/ what I wrote today... it's my parents fault. Blame them.
